Patna: Counting of votes for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 has begun in Patna district, and early trends are already shaping the political mood. Out of the 14 seats in Patna district, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has taken a comfortable early lead, while the Grand Alliance is struggling to catch up. According to updated data at 10:30am, NDA candidates are ahead in 172 seats across the state, whereas the Grand Alliance is currently limited to 66 seats. These numbers suggest that the contest might become one-sided and that the picture of power in Bihar could become clear much earlier than expected.
Strong individual performance by key candidates is also drawing attention. In Mokama, JDU’s Anant Singh is ahead, holding a consistent lead from the first round. In Kumhrar, BJP candidate Sanjay Kumar is leading after the third round of counting. In Danapur, Reetlal continues to stay ahead of his rivals. The momentum of these initial trends has boosted the confidence of the NDA camp, while the Grand Alliance offices are watching anxiously for shifts as more rounds are counted.
The counting process is being conducted at AN College in Patna, which has been converted into a high-security zone. Security forces, CCTV surveillance and restricted entry have been put in place to ensure full transparency and prevent any disturbance. Officials have informed that the first result in Patna district is expected from Mokama, while the last is likely to be from Digha due to its high number of booths. With thousands of counting personnel and observers deployed, every round and every update is being handled with strict monitoring.
Different constituencies in Patna district have different numbers of booths and rounds, which affects how fast their results will be announced. Mokama has 342 booths with 24 rounds, Bankipur 422 booths with 30 rounds, Kumhrar 435 booths with 31 rounds, Paliganj 370 booths with 26 rounds, Bakhtiyarpur 351 booths with 25 rounds, Barh 349 booths with 25 rounds, Fatuha 350 booths with 25 rounds, Maner 406 booths with 29 rounds, Bikram 424 booths with 30 rounds, Patna Sahib 410 booths with 29 rounds, Digha 503 booths with 35 rounds, Danapur 411 booths with 29 rounds, Phulwari 461 booths with 32 rounds and Masaurhi 443 booths with 31 rounds. While counting continues at different speeds, the overall direction of the election appears to be tilting strongly towards the NDA.
As the day progresses, all eyes will stay on Patna because the capital district often sets the tone for final political momentum in the state. If the current trends remain stable through later rounds, this could turn into a major turning point for Bihar’s political future. Celebrations have already started in some NDA headquarters, while opposition leaders are hoping for a late swing in their favour as counting moves ahead.
