Patna: Security teams have been deployed at the Bihar Legislative Assembly and the Patna civil court after authorities received a fresh bomb threat warning of multiple explosions, officials said.
According to police, the threat was sent via email, claiming that 13 RDX charges had been planted inside the assembly complex and that blasts would occur at 2:15pm. The message also urged the evacuation of legislators and members of the public.
Bomb disposal and dog squads were immediately sent to both locations, where search operations are currently under way. Despite the alert, court proceedings have continued, with security personnel combing the premises simultaneously.
Pirbahore station house officer Sajjad Gaddi confirmed the development, stating that the court had received the email threat and that a thorough search operation was ongoing. Authorities have not yet confirmed the credibility of the threat.
The incident marks the latest in a series of similar warnings targeting the Patna civil court, raising concerns over persistent security challenges. In a recent development, Delhi police had arrested a suspect linked to earlier threats, with officials suggesting at the time that such incidents would cease. However, the latest warning has cast doubt on those assurances.
Lawyers at the court expressed frustration over the repeated threats and what they described as inadequate action by authorities. Advocate Rishikesh Narayan Singh said the situation was “deeply unfortunate”, adding that repeated warnings without arrests raised serious questions about law enforcement’s effectiveness and its approach to public safety.
Another lawyer, Anshuman, called for the court to take suo motu cognisance of the matter and seek an explanation from the police regarding steps taken so far.
Authorities have not reported any suspicious findings so far, and investigations into the source of the email are ongoing.
