Patna: Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Saturday conducted a comprehensive mock drill at the Patna High Court premises to assess preparedness and response mechanisms in handling critical security situations.
The programme commenced with a ceremonial Guard of Honour presented to the Chief Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo. Several Judges, Advocate General, HC Registrar General graced the occasion with their presence. Senior officials including ADG (ATS), SP (ATS), SSP, Patna, along with other officers of the registry and distinguished dignitaries were present during the event.
On this occasion, the ADG (ATS) Pankaj Kumar Darad elaborated on the role, responsibilities and operational significance of the ATS in maintaining internal security and responding to emerging threats.
As part of the event, a live demonstration and mock drill was carried out simulating a high-risk scenario involving the hijacking of a bus carrying Indian scientists near Fatuha in Patna by five terrorists. The exercise showcased coordinated response strategies, tactical intervention, and swift neutralization procedures undertaken by ATS personnel.

In his concluding address, Chief Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo emphasized the critical importance of robust security arrangements within the Patna High Court premises. He highlighted the existing security infrastructure, deployment patterns across various entry gates and sensitive zones, and underscored the need for further strengthening the security measures to ensure safety and preparedness against any potential threats.
The mock drill served as an important initiative towards enhancing coordination among security agencies and reinforcing preparedness to handle emergency situations effectively.
