Banka: A major theft was reported at the motorcycle showroom of Arjit Shashwat, son of former Union minister Ashwini Choubey, in Bihar’s Banka district late on Friday night.
According to police, unidentified thieves broke into the Mandar Hero showroom by smashing a ventilator at the rear of the building. They fled with around Rs 4,00,000 in cash and silver coins kept inside. The burglary was discovered on Saturday morning when staff arrived to open the showroom and found the cash counter and doors broken.
CCTV cameras installed on the premises captured two suspects carrying out the theft. Police have collected the footage, registered an FIR on the showroom management’s complaint and launched raids in nearby areas.
Local residents expressed concern over the increasing incidents of theft targeting businesses, warning that the rising crime rate has created fear among traders.
