Patna: Political strategist and Jan Suraj leader Prashant Kishor launched a sharp attack on Opposition leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, questioning his ability to calculate the budget for the proposed Mai Behan Yojana. Kishor alleged that even with a calculator, Tejashwi would struggle to work out the scheme’s financial burden.
The Mai Behan Yojana, announced by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress ahead of the Bihar elections, promises Rs 2,500 a month to every woman in the state. Prashant argued that the party has not explained how such a massive expenditure would be financed.
“If every woman in Bihar is to be given Rs 2,500 each month, what would be the annual budget? Even with a calculator, Tejashwi cannot present the figure on camera,” Prashant said at a public event. He added that raising funds for such an ambitious plan was “beyond the capacity of the opposition”.
Prashant also criticised the RJD for retaining leaders linked to the party’s older political culture, including Surendra Yadav, Lalit Yadav, Ritlal Yadav and Rajballabh Yadav. He argued that despite changes in leadership, the “system remains the same” and that the influence of the liquor and sand mafia has not diminished.
