Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today laid the foundation stone, started work, and inaugurated 432 development schemes worth more than Rs 740 crore in Bhojpur district. The program took place at Bihiya Chowrasta and included projects spanning roads, bridges, electricity, buildings, and community development.
Key projects include widening the Ara-Buxar four-lane highway to six lanes via Babura at a cost of Rs 1,05,16,00,000, road widening from Zero Mile to Patar for Rs 33,89,00,000, and construction of a new stormwater drainage system from Outfall Drain to MP Bagh at Rs 87,00,00,000. Additional works cover road construction along canal dams, bypasses, and the development of the Surya Mandir complex at a cost of Rs 14,00,00,000.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for 92 schemes worth Rs 2,11,19,00,000 and inaugurated 329 schemes worth Rs 87,82,00,000. During the event, he interacted with pensioner beneficiaries, Jeevika self-help group members, and other locals. A symbolic cheque of Rs 2,40,00,000 was handed over to 187 Jeevika self-help groups, and battery-operated tricycles under the Mukhyamantri Sambal Yojana were distributed.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for increases in pensions from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100 for the elderly, disabled, and widows, as well as free electricity benefits of 125 units. Women’s self-help groups praised government initiatives aimed at promoting self-reliance, while Asha workers and Mamta sisters welcomed increases in their incentive amounts.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, Director General of Police Vinay Kumar, and several senior officials were present. A large number of dignitaries and local residents attended the program, which also included unveiling stone plaques of various development projects through remote connection from Nayaka Tola, Jagdishpur.
Nitish Kumar encouraged beneficiaries to remain motivated, work diligently, and contribute to the development of Bihar while ensuring progress for their families.
