Patna: Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, has floated a new political outfit, Janshakti Janata Dal, and announced his decision to contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections from Mahua.
The party, which was originally formed in 2024 by Tej Pratap’s close aide Balendra Das and contested the Lok Sabha elections with the election symbol of a flute, has now been formally registered under Tej Pratap’s leadership by the Election Commission.
On July 26, Tej Pratap had declared his intention to contest from Mahua, appearing in a yellow cap for the first time. “Team Tej Pratap is a platform. We will support the young generation that wants to contest. The one who speaks for youth, education, jobs and healthcare will form the government,” he said. Mahua is currently represented by RJD’s Mukesh Kumar, who defeated JD(U)’s Ashma Parveen by 13,687 votes in 2020.
