Patna: The Bihar Cabinet has approved recruitment for 22,000 posts of Anganwadi workers and helpers under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, along with several infrastructure and development projects.
The decisions include water supply projects in Lakhisarai and Kishanganj, two high-level RCC bridges in Jamui, new cooperative sugar mills and sugarcane-based industries in Darbhanga and Madhubani, and a Rs 106.39 crore scheme to strengthen the state’s vegetable cooperative network.
22,000 Anganwadi Posts Approved
The Cabinet approved recruitment for 22,000 posts of Sevikas (Anganwadi workers) and Sahayikas (Anganwadi helpers).
The recruitment will be carried out under the ICDS framework, which provides services including supplementary nutrition, pre-school education, nutrition and health education, immunisation, health check-ups and referral services through Anganwadi centres.
Water Supply Projects In Two Districts
Administrative approval was granted for water supply projects in Lakhisarai and Kishanganj under the Centrally Sponsored AMRUT 2.0 Mission.
The Lakhisarai project has been approved at a cost of Rs 150.96 crore, while the Kishanganj project is valued at Rs 53.71 crore.
The projects are intended to improve access to drinking water and strengthen urban water infrastructure in the two districts.
Two Bridges Approved In Jamui
The Cabinet also approved two high-level RCC bridge projects on NH-333A in Jamui district on the proposal of the Road Construction Department.
A new bridge will be constructed over the Kiul River at Nariana Ghat on the 72nd km of the Khaira-Sono road at an estimated cost of Rs 93.82 crore.
Another bridge will be built over the Mangobandar-Suknar River at the 80th km of the Khaira-Sono road. The project has been approved at a cost of Rs 55.96 crore.
The projects are expected to improve road connectivity and facilitate the movement of people and goods in the area.

Sugar Industry Projects In Mithilanchal
The Cabinet approved proposals to establish new cooperative sugar mills and industries based on sugarcane by-products at the sites of defunct sugar mills in Raiyam in Darbhanga and Sakri in Madhubani.
The proposed projects are aimed at creating opportunities for sugarcane farmers and employment in the region while supporting industrial activity in Mithilanchal.
Rs 106.39 Crore Scheme For Vegfed
The Cabinet also approved a Rs 106.39 crore scheme to strengthen and expand the three-tier cooperative structure of Vegfed under the Bihar State Vegetable Processing and Marketing Scheme.
The scheme will cover the development of infrastructure at the block level, working capital support for cooperative societies and arrangements for refrigerated, or reefer, vehicles.
The measures are intended to improve the storage, processing and marketing network for vegetables and strengthen the cooperative system across the state.
