Patna: The Bihar Cabinet on Wednesday approved 22 agenda items, including proposals aimed at expanding educational infrastructure, strengthening fisheries development and advancing plans for a Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). The meeting was chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary at the Main Secretariat’s Cabinet Hall.
The decisions include providing land for new Kendriya Vidyalayas, setting up a dedicated corporation for fisheries infrastructure and preparing project reports for a regional rapid transit network connecting Patna with key districts.
Land Approved For Kendriya Vidyalayas
The Cabinet approved the allotment of five-acre land parcels in Madhubani, Munger and Muzaffarpur to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), under the Union Ministry of Education.
The land will be leased for 30 years, with an option for renewal, at a token lease amount of Rs 1. The move is intended to facilitate the establishment of new Kendriya Vidyalayas and expand access to quality education and modern learning facilities.
Fisheries Corporation To Be Established
To strengthen the fisheries and aquaculture sector, the Cabinet approved the formation of the Bihar Aquaculture Infrastructure and Development Corporation Limited under the Companies Act, 2013.
According to the decision, the corporation will oversee the planned development, operation and management of fisheries and aquaculture infrastructure across the state.
DPR Cleared For Regional Rapid Transit System
The Cabinet also approved the preparation of the Alternative Analysis Report (AAR) and Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a proposed Regional Rapid Transit System.
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has been designated to prepare the reports. The proposed network will connect Patna with Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Ara and Gaya, with the aim of improving regional connectivity through a faster and modern public transport system.
Previous Cabinet Decisions
The government also referred to decisions taken during the previous Cabinet meeting. These included the implementation of a toll policy on state highways and major bridges, with toll rates approved by the Cabinet.
Other approvals included the establishment of Kendriya Vidyalayas in Rajgir, Purnia, Sheikhpura, Madhepura and Madhubani, the modernisation of 31 bus stands under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, approval for the Patna Municipal Corporation to issue bonds worth Rs 200 crore, and measures to fill vacant teaching positions in universities and constituent colleges.
