Patna: Circle officers across Bihar have decided to suspend their indefinite strike, bringing relief to administrative services that had been affected since early March.
The decision was announced by the Joint Front of the Bihar Revenue Service Federation, which said officers would resume duties from May 4.
Strike Called Off In Public Interest
The strike, which began on March 9, had disrupted key revenue and land-related services across the state.
In a statement, the joint front said the decision to suspend the protest was taken in view of the inconvenience caused to the general public and to ensure continuity in administrative work.
It also expressed confidence in the leadership of chief minister Samrat Chaudhary, stating that the government would take steps to address their concerns.
Key Demands Remain
The officers have been pressing for action on an 11-point charter of demands submitted earlier, including issues related to cadre strengthening and administrative control.
Among the key demands is bringing the post of deputy collector for land reforms fully under the revenue department and ensuring that posts within the cadre are filled by eligible officers.
Work To Resume Across Circles
With the strike suspended, circle officers are expected to rejoin their respective postings across districts from May 4, restoring normal functioning in land and revenue administration.
Officials said the resumption of services would help clear pending work that had accumulated during the strike period.
Hope For Resolution
The joint front said it remains hopeful that the government will take “positive and time-bound” action on its demands through dialogue and cooperation.
It added that it would continue to engage constructively with the administration to strengthen the functioning of the revenue services and improve public service delivery.
