Patna/Motihari: The Bihar education department has issued notices to 1,855 government and private schools in Motihari district after they failed to upload student enrolment data on the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) portal for the 2025–26 academic session.
The district programme officer (SSA), Prahlad Prasad Gupta, has directed the head teachers of the concerned schools to submit explanations and complete the data upload within 24 hours. Officials warned that failure to comply within the stipulated time could invite further administrative action.
According to the department, timely submission of UDISE data is essential for the implementation of education schemes, including the distribution of textbooks, scholarships and other government benefits for students. Delays, officials said, disrupt planning and affect the delivery of entitlements.
Gupta said repeated instructions had been issued to schools—both government-run and privately managed—to upload complete and accurate enrolment information for the current academic year. Despite this, a significant number of institutions failed to meet the deadline.
Education department officials stressed that there would be no leniency in enforcing compliance, adding that accurate data reporting is critical to ensuring the smooth functioning of the education system.
Schools have been urged to adhere strictly to guidelines and complete the process promptly so that students are not deprived of benefits linked to official enrolment records.
