Patna: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) is developing a digital portal to connect the state’s more than 73,000 government schools with alumni, ordinary citizens, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), non-resident Indians (NRIs) and corporate entities.
The initiative, titled ‘Mera Vidyalaya, Mera Swabhiman’ (My School, My Pride), will allow individuals and organisations to support the development of government schools, including schools they previously attended.
The plans were presented on Sunday by BSEB chairman Dr Thiyagarajan SM during a training-cum-brainstorming session organised by the Bihar government’s Education Department at Adhiveshan Bhawan.
Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari, senior department officials, district education officers and district programme officers from across the state attended the session.
Schools Can Be Adopted For Three Years Or Longer
Under the proposed portal, alumni groups, organisations, corporate entities and NRIs will be able to adopt government schools for three years, five years or for a lifetime.
Ordinary citizens will also be able to contribute by offering their knowledge, skills, time or resources to schools.
NRIs will be encouraged to support schools with digital education, infrastructure and access to global opportunities. Companies can contribute funds, resources and expertise through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
School headmasters will identify and list the requirements of their respective schools on the portal. Support will be accepted only with the consent of the school.
For CSR-based assistance, approval from the District Education Officer will be required.
Free JEE-NEET Coaching To Expand
The BSEB is also planning to extend free online evening coaching for JEE and NEET preparation to another 146 Plus-Two model schools across Bihar.
The existing programme provides free residential coaching in Patna at two centres to 200 students each year — 100 for JEE preparation and 100 for NEET.
Non-residential JEE and NEET coaching is also being provided to 50 students annually at each of the state’s nine divisional headquarters districts.
The Board has already introduced free evening coaching at 10 model schools in Patna district following student demand and the response to its existing programmes.
The new expansion will connect 146 additional Plus-Two model schools with online coaching. The Board is setting up a studio at its headquarters for this purpose.
Until the studio becomes operational, students will receive video lessons covering different subjects and topics prepared by expert teachers.
Interactive Classes To Begin In 688 Model Schools
An interactive online learning system will be introduced in 688 model schools across Bihar from August 15, according to the BSEB chairman.
The programme will cover students from Classes 9 to 12. Students will be able to access subject- and topic-specific lessons and interact with teachers online to clarify their doubts.
The service will be provided free of cost, with teachers available to students around the clock.
Students will have to register through the designated portal or mobile application. After registration, they can select their class, subject and topic and attend live sessions.
Students facing difficulties with a particular subject will also be able to submit questions to teachers, who will provide explanations and solutions.
The initiatives are aimed at expanding access to academic support, competitive-examination preparation and additional resources for students studying in Bihar’s government schools.
