Patna: Senior leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) (JDU) met at Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary’s residence in Patna on Friday for a roughly 45-minute discussion over seat-sharing for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
Although several prominent figures attended—including BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal, Bihar election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan, Vinod Tawde, JDU national executive president Sanjay Kumar Jha, Union Minister Lallan Singh, and Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary—the leaders avoided answering any questions from the media upon leaving the meeting.
The meeting came just as the BJP appeared to have resolved a dispute with LJP-R president and Union Minister Chirag Paswan over seat allocations within the NDA. Speculation persists that no final agreement was reached with the JDU, with sources suggesting that party leaders may confer with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and reconvene with BJP officials later.
Reports indicate the JDU intends to review constituencies held by Chirag Paswan, former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Upendra Kushwaha before finalising seat-sharing arrangements. Meanwhile, Chirag Paswan is pressing for a share of JDU, BJP, and HAM seats, adding complexity to the negotiations.
