Patna: The Grand Alliance on Tuesday unveiled its manifesto for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, branding it ‘Tejashwi Pran’ — a document described as a pledge from the “heart and the soil” of Bihar. The launch took place at Patna’s Maurya Hotel, where leaders from all alliance partners, including the RJD, Congress, CPI(ML), CPI, CPM, VIP, and IP Gupta’s party, gathered in a show of unity.
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said the manifesto represents “a roadmap to reclaim Bihar’s lost years,” asserting that the state has regressed by two decades under NDA rule. CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya added that “the promises made are not dreams but deliverable commitments.”
Addressing the gathering, RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan’s CM face Tejashwi Yadav declared, “Each promise in this manifesto is a pledge — not just of our parties but of our hearts. We will sacrifice our lives to fulfil these promises.”
Key promises from the manifesto
- One government job per family: A law will be passed within 20 days of forming the government to guarantee employment to at least one member of every household.
- Jeevika Didis to get government status: All Jeevika workers will be regularised as government employees and receive a monthly salary of Rs. 30,000.
- Women’s welfare: The manifesto includes a monthly pension of Rs. 2,500 for women under the Mai-Behin Maan Yojana.
- Reservation expansion: The alliance also promises to increase the reservation limit for backward and marginalised groups.
Tejashwi launched a sharp attack on Nitish Kumar and the BJP, alleging that the Chief Minister had been reduced to “a puppet in the hands of corrupt officials and BJP leaders.”
The Mahagathbandhan’s seat-sharing arrangement covers 143 seats for RJD, 62 for Congress, 20 for CPI(ML), 15 for VIP, 6 for CPM, 4 for CPI, and 3 for IP Gupta’s party. VIP leader Mukesh Sahni has been named the alliance’s Deputy Chief Minister face.
