Vaishali/Muzaffarpur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that Bihar risks returning to “jungle raj in a new disguise” if voters back the RJD-Congress alliance in the upcoming Assembly elections. Addressing a rally in Mahua, Vaishali, Shah hailed the “enthusiasm of the people of Vaishali, the mother of democracy,” as a sign that the NDA would return to power in the state.
Taking sharp aim at RJD chief Lalu Prasad and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Shah said, “During Lalu-Rabri’s rule, massacres and murders were daily occurrences in Bihar. Kidnapping and ransom businesses thrived, and women’s dignity was trampled. The Congress, meanwhile, kept the Ram Temple issue hanging for decades. Now, that same jungle raj is returning — in new faces, new clothes, and new disguises.”
He accused the RJD and Congress of corruption “worth Rs 12 lakh crore,” including flood relief scams, and pledged that an NDA government would “make Bihar flood-free.” Shah also mocked internal discord in the opposition bloc, saying, “An alliance that lacks unity cannot keep Bihar united.”
Earlier, addressing another rally in Bishunpur Saraiya, Muzaffarpur, he urged voters to press the button for “Nitish and Modi, not for any individual candidate.” He warned that under RJD rule, “there will be ministries for kidnapping, extortion, and murder,” while under the NDA, “a ministry for flood control and women’s welfare” would take shape.
Shah highlighted that the Modi government had allocated over Rs 18 lakh crore for Bihar’s development since 2014, provided free food grains to 85.2 million people, and built 4.4 million homes under various central schemes. “Only Modi and Nitish can bring progress to Bihar,” he declared.
