Patna: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar will address a press conference at Hotel Taj in Patna at 2 p.m. on Sunday, following a detailed review of preparations for the Bihar Assembly elections. The announcement is expected to outline the poll schedule and the Commission’s final assessment of election readiness across the state.
Before the press briefing, the Election Commission team, led by Gyanesh Kumar, will hold a series of back-to-back meetings beginning at 9:30 a.m. The first session, scheduled until 11 a.m., will focus on coordination with enforcement and monitoring agencies to ensure fair elections and effective financial oversight.
From 11:30 a.m. to noon, the Commission will review security arrangements with Bihar’s Chief Electoral Officer, the State Police Nodal Officer, and representatives of central security forces. A final coordination meeting with the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police, and senior officials will follow between noon and 1 p.m.
The CEC’s media briefing at 2 p.m. will conclude the Commission’s two-day visit to Bihar, during which it met representatives of all 12 recognized political parties on Saturday.

During Saturday’s meeting, the Election Commission emphasized that political parties are the “protectors of democracy” and urged them to ensure active participation in every stage of the electoral process. The Commission appealed to all parties and citizens to celebrate the “festival of democracy” peacefully and uphold voter dignity.
Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, along with Bihar Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Gunjyal, attended the review meetings, which mark the final step before the likely announcement of the Bihar Assembly election dates.
