Patna: With just days to go before the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, political tensions in the state are escalating. The Bihar Pradesh Samajwadi Party (SP) has released a controversial poster, quickly gaining traction on social media and in local communities, that appears to take aim at top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) figures, including Home Minister Amit Shah and CM Nitish Kumar.
The poster, titled “Goodbye Uncle”, uses a cartoon-like depiction of Shah and Nitish amid scenes of public unrest and economic hardship. Accompanying slogans read, “When the public erupts in uproar, the foundations of palaces crumble” and “The crown flies in the air with the force of its breath,” suggesting the party’s criticism of the BJP government’s handling of public trust and governance.
Images of Grand Alliance leaders, including Akhilesh Yadav and members of the Lalu Prasad family, also feature on the poster, with a message signalling the SP’s hope of forming a new government: “Vacate the throne, the ‘Tejaswi government’ is coming.”
Dharmveer Yadav, former state president of the SP, is reportedly the main architect behind the campaign. He has claimed that widespread public disillusionment with the BJP could pave the way for a Grand Alliance government in Bihar.
The poster has heightened the charged atmosphere surrounding the elections, though the BJP has yet to issue an official response. Analysts suggest that such provocative political messaging is indicative of a closely fought and confrontational poll season.
