Patna: As political parties unveil their manifestos ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) CPI(ML) has laid out a series of pledges aimed at addressing landlessness and housing insecurity.
Released on Sunday, the party’s manifesto promises that, if the Grand Alliance forms the government, every landless and homeless family would receive five decimals of land in rural areas, three decimals in urban areas, and a permanent house. The document also includes commitments to ban the eviction of the poor without rehabilitation, ensure government procurement of grains at fair prices, and promote agriculture-based industries.
The manifesto was presented by CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, State Secretary Kunal, AIPWA General Secretary Meena Tiwari, MP Sudama Prasad, and Prabhat Kumar Chaudhary. The party, which is contesting 20 seats in the election, has renominated 12 sitting MLAs, focusing primarily on constituencies with strong grassroots support.
In parallel, CPI leaders are gearing up to campaign for the Grand Alliance. Communist Party of India General Secretary D. Raja, along with other prominent figures, will begin canvassing in Bihar from October 29. The party’s state secretary, Ram Naresh Pandey, announced the list of star campaigners for the second phase of electioneering, which includes National Secretary Amarjeet Kaur, Dr Girish Chandra Sharma, Dr B.K.
