Patna: An average voter turnout of 14.55% was recorded across Bihar by 9am on Monday during the second phase of polling in the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections, according to data released by the State Election Commission.
Despite the early morning chill, voters turned out in large numbers, particularly in southern and eastern Bihar, showing visible enthusiasm in what officials described as the “festival of democracy.”
Among the districts, Gaya reported the highest turnout at 15.97%, followed closely by Kishanganj (15.81%), Purnia (15.54%), Aurangabad (15.43%), Araria (15.34%), and Jamui (15.77%). Other districts such as Banka (15.14%), Kaimur (15.08%), and Arwal (14.95%) also recorded encouraging participation.
In contrast, turnout remained relatively low in Madhubani (13.25%), Bhagalpur (13.43%), Nawada (13.46%), Sitamarhi (13.49%), Katihar (13.77%), Jehanabad (13.81%), and Sheohar (13.94%).
Reports from across the state indicated long queues outside polling stations from the start of voting, particularly in the Seemanchal, Magadh, and Kosi regions. The presence of women voters was notably strong in several constituencies.
Officials confirmed that voting was proceeding peacefully, with no major incidents reported so far. Tight security arrangements were in place, including the deployment of paramilitary forces and monitoring of sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling stations.
