Patna: Bihar’s energy secretary Manoj Kumar Singh on Saturday inspected the 33/11 kV power substation at Desari in Vaishali district, using the visit to press for immediate improvements in safety standards, staff training and technical efficiency across the local distribution network.
Singh, who also serves as chairman-cum-managing director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL), asked officials to strengthen communication with electricity consumers. He directed teams to hold meetings twice a week to address complaints, understand service gaps and ensure quicker redressal of local issues.

Reviewing operations at the facility, the secretary stressed the importance of proper load balancing between transformers to reduce stress on equipment and minimise disruptions. Engineers were also instructed to run transformers in parallel when necessary to maintain stability during peak demand and avoid outages.
The inspection placed particular emphasis on workforce preparedness and on-ground safety. Singh called for higher-quality training for newly appointed linemen and mandated the strict use of protective gear during fieldwork, noting that preventable accidents must be eliminated from routine operations.
Senior officials, including the director (operations) of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited, the chief engineer for operations and maintenance, and superintending engineers from the Samastipur supply and transmission divisions, were present during the visit.
