Patna: Bihar is seeing a sharp rise in entrepreneurship as state government schemes are providing financial help to people from all sections of society. From poor households to youth with innovative ideas, many are getting support to set up businesses and become self-reliant.
Under the Bihar Laghu Udyam Yojana, families are being given grants of up to Rs 2 lakh to start small businesses. So far, over Rs 512 crore has been distributed to more than 60,000 people. The money is given in three instalments to help them gradually build their ventures.
The Chief Minister Udyam Yojana is also proving useful for young entrepreneurs. It provides up to Rs 10 lakh for new industries. Till now, more than Rs 3,000 crore has been given to over 43,000 beneficiaries. Many youths have started their own businesses with this support.
At the same time, the Bihar Startup Policy is encouraging innovation with interest-free loans of up to Rs 10 lakh. Over 1,500 startups have been registered, and 46 startup cells and 22 incubation centres have been set up. The state has also signed an agreement with SIDBI for a Rs 150 crore startup fund, while awareness camps and training programmes are preparing students for future opportunities.
