Patna: Bihar is taking a significant step towards developing a world-class Film City, as investors and experts from the film industry expressed keen interest in the project during a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit. The discussion focused on creating a hub that would serve as a centre for film production, post-production, and media business, while highlighting Bihar’s cultural and historical significance. Participants shared ideas for building modern indoor and outdoor shooting facilities, corporate media centres, and other state-of-the-art infrastructure.
The meeting brought together several prominent figures from the film and media world, including filmmaker Tutu Sharma, media personality Gaurav Dwivedi, and entrepreneurs Kanika Singhal of Next Leap and Rahul Nehra of Sitara Plex. Bollywood and Hollywood actress Neetu Chandra and media consultant Hema Upadhyay were also present. The investors stressed that a Film City of international standards could help attract both national and global projects while creating new opportunities for local talent.
Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit welcomed the suggestions and underlined the Bihar government’s commitment to promoting the film industry. He said that the Bihar Film City would generate large-scale employment, strengthen the state’s image nationally and internationally, and provide a platform for creative and technological development. He also emphasized that the project would be a Green Film City, built with environmentally friendly infrastructure and sustainable practices, and instructed the relevant departments to prepare a detailed action plan.
Officials and investors agreed that the Film City could play a crucial role in Bihar’s cultural, technological, and economic growth. It is expected to showcase the state’s rich heritage while creating opportunities for training, talent development, and entrepreneurship in the media and entertainment sectors. With investor enthusiasm high, the project is seen as a potential milestone in Bihar’s emergence as a hub for creative industries.
