Patna: As political campaigning heats up across Bihar, the weather is cooling down. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate fog for the next two days across much of the state, followed by a drop of 2–3°C in minimum temperatures, marking the onset of early winter conditions.
Thursday morning in Patna began cool, but the sun soon grew intense, making the day warmer than expected. By evening, however, cold winds swept through the city, reviving the seasonal chill.
According to IMD data, Motihari recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 34.5°C, while Aurangabad reported the lowest minimum at 17.7°C. In Patna, the maximum temperature stood at 31.1°C, with a minimum of 20.8°C.

The Meteorological Centre in Patna stated that no rainfall is expected over the next few days. However, a mild cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal and Northeast India is exerting a slight influence, moderating temperatures and increasing morning fog.
While daytime temperatures are expected to remain stable, the minimum temperature is set to decline over the next 48 hours, bringing noticeably cooler mornings and evenings.
The IMD has also issued an advisory for commuters in North Bihar, warning of reduced visibility due to fog, particularly in Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, and Darbhanga. Drivers have been urged to exercise caution during early morning hours.
As Bihar continues its high-stakes elections, the fog-laced mornings and crisp evenings signal a seasonal shift — from the heat of campaigning to the calm onset of winter.
