Patna: Bihar Department of Youth, Employment and Skill Development has launched a free Korean language training programme for young people aged between 18 and 30 at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Patna City, Gaighat. The four-month course is intended to equip participants with language skills that can support higher education and employment opportunities overseas.
The Korean language training centre was inaugurated on Wednesday, coinciding with World Youth Skills Day, by Kaushal Kishore, Secretary of the Department of Youth, Employment and Skill Development.
Government Plans Expansion Across Bihar
Speaking at the inauguration, Kaushal Kishore said the department plans to establish foreign language training centres in other districts of Bihar. He said the institute has been equipped with a modern language laboratory and offline teaching facilities to support the programme.
He added that the government is preparing young people for emerging global employment opportunities, particularly as technological changes reshape the international job market.
Existing Foreign Language Programmes
The secretary said the department already provides free training in English, German, Arabic, Japanese, Spanish and French through the Dashrath Manjhi Institute of Labour and Employment Studies.
The newly introduced Korean course at ITI Patna City consists of 300 hours of training.
Application Process
Officials said interested candidates can apply online through the department’s official website. According to the department, more than 2,700 young people have already registered their interest in learning foreign languages through its training programmes.
Focus On Overseas Employment
Officials said proficiency in foreign languages can improve employment prospects for skilled professionals from sectors including education, medicine, science and technology. The initiative is expected to help Bihar’s youth access career opportunities and higher education abroad.
During the inauguration, Kaushal Kishore also planted a sapling on the ITI campus.
The event was attended by Navdeep Shukla, Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Bihar Skill Development Mission and Director of Employment and Training, Mission Director Sunil Kumar, Manish Shankar, and other officials.
