Patna: Seventeen young women from Bihar have travelled to Bengaluru to begin internships at Tata Electronics’ mobile manufacturing unit, under the state government’s CM Pratigya Yojana. The group left by train on November 26, after being selected by Tata Electronics to work as mobile handset assembly interns at the Tata–Apple production facility in Hosur, Karnataka.
The initiative is part of the Bihar Skill Development Mission, which operates under the Department of Labour Resources. Officials said the programme aims to boost employment opportunities and provide industrial exposure to young women in the state.
Deepak Anand, secretary of the Department of Labour Resources, said the scheme would “empower the daughters of Bihar” and help them gain hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing environments. He described the internships as a milestone for the state.
Under the CM Pratigya scheme, interns receive a monthly stipend from the government ranging between Rs 4,000 and Rs 6,000, depending on their education level, along with a monthly maintenance allowance of Rs 5,000 for those placed outside Bihar. Tata Electronics will also provide a monthly top-up of Rs 13,485, accommodation, meals, transport services and personal insurance.
The internship programme is open to residents of Bihar aged 18 to 28 who have completed at least Class 12, an ITI or diploma, a graduate or postgraduate degree, or hold a skill training certificate of more than six months. Candidates pursuing distance learning are also eligible.
Applications can be submitted through Aadhaar-based registration on the CM Pratigya portal, where candidates may apply for up to three internship opportunities. A toll-free helpline is available for support: 1800 296 5656.
