Patna: Bihar’s Vigilance Investigation Bureau has uncovered substantial cash, jewellery and land assets in the latest raid on Upendra Nath Verma, Executive Officer of the Rosera Municipal Council, intensifying scrutiny over allegations of disproportionate assets.
The raids, carried out on Wednesday, targeted Verma’s residence in Ashiana Phase-2, Rajivan Nagar, Patna, as well as his office and home in Rosera, Samastipur. Officials recovered more than Rs 10.5 lakh in cash, jewellery valued at Rs 27 lakh, and documents linked to 14 plots of land.
Further investigation on Thursday revealed an additional Rs 40 lakh in Verma’s bank account and documents related to three more plots of land. The Vigilance Bureau has indicated that Verma may hold further undeclared assets, which are now under review.
“The documents recovered suggest that the assets in question exceed his declared sources of income by around 86 percent,” a Vigilance Bureau official said. Authorities are continuing to examine the recovered papers to trace other potential properties.
Verma is currently facing action for possession of disproportionate assets, with the Vigilance Bureau investigating the full extent of his wealth and holdings.
