Patna: Entrepreneurs with disabilities in Bihar will be eligible for loans and grants of up to Rs 1m under a new state-backed initiative aimed at promoting self-employment and expanding job opportunities.
Announcing the scheme in Patna on Monday, officials said the “Mukhyamantri Divyangjan Udhyami Yojana” will be implemented through the state’s industries department and is open to eligible applicants across Bihar.
The programme forms part of the government’s wider employment drive under the “Saat Nischay-3” agenda launched after the formation of the new administration led by Nitish Kumar. The state government has pledged to facilitate up to 10 million jobs through a mix of public sector recruitment, industrial expansion and entrepreneurship support.
According to officials, the scheme is designed to encourage persons with disabilities to establish their own enterprises by easing access to finance. Approved beneficiaries will be eligible for financial assistance of up to Rs 1m per project unit, in the form of loans and grants, depending on eligibility and project requirements.
The government said it is simultaneously working to attract new industries to the state to generate broader employment opportunities. By focusing on entrepreneurship among marginalised groups, the administration aims to expand participation in Bihar’s economic growth.
Applications for the scheme must be submitted online through the industries department’s portal. State authorities have urged eligible individuals to apply and take advantage of the financial support available under the initiative.
