Patna: Bihar is preparing for a significant expansion in public sector hiring in the 2026–27 financial year, with thousands of vacancies set to be filled across key commissions and departments as part of what officials describe as a coordinated push to boost employment and administrative capacity.
According to plans drawn up by the state’s general administration department, recruitment and training will proceed simultaneously, with multiple constitutional and statutory bodies set to receive new appointments. The move signals a renewed focus on youth employment and institutional strengthening ahead of the new fiscal cycle.
Youth Commission appointments under way
Following the formation of the Bihar Youth Commission – first announced during the assembly election campaign – the state government is now preparing to appoint its leadership. The commission will comprise one chairperson, two vice-chairpersons and seven members.
Final decisions on the appointments will be taken at the government level, with the distribution of posts expected to be decided within the ruling coalition.
Vacancies across key commissions
Several other commissions are also set to see fresh appointments.
At the , one post of state information commissioner remains vacant. The appointment process will involve consultation with the leader of the opposition, in line with statutory requirements.
The is expected to appoint a chairperson and a member (health services). The commission oversees recruitment for technical posts in various state departments.
One member position is vacant in the , while the will also see the appointment of a new member.
In addition, the is set to receive a chairperson and two members, strengthening the state’s anti-corruption oversight framework.
Tens of thousands of posts to be filled
Large-scale recruitment through competitive examinations is also in the pipeline.
A total of 173 civilian judges (junior division) will be appointed through the 33rd Bihar Judicial Services Examination. The is set to conduct examinations for 31,924 posts, while the will oversee recruitment for 18,112 positions.
Meanwhile, the is preparing to submit recommendations for appointments to 43,315 posts across technical cadres.
Training push targeting 100,000 youth
Alongside recruitment, the state government is planning an expanded training drive. The (BIPARD) will organise 400 training programmes, with a target of providing skill development to 100,000 young people.
Officials say the strategy for the new financial year combines job creation with capacity building. By synchronising recruitment and training, the government aims to increase employment opportunities while ensuring that newly appointed staff are adequately prepared for their roles.
With notifications expected to be released soon, the coming months are likely to see one of the largest coordinated hiring drives in Bihar in recent years.
