Patna: Bihar Education Department has announced the return of standard school timings across government schools in the state from July 1, marking the end of the temporary summer schedule introduced during the heatwave period.
Standard Timings Restored
As per the order, all government primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary schools will now operate from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
The revised schedule will replace the earlier summer timings, under which schools were functioning from 6:30 AM to 12:30 PM between June 22 and June 30.
Reason For the Change
The department stated that the decision has been taken in view of improved weather conditions following the onset of the monsoon.
Earlier, school timings were revised due to severe heatwave conditions affecting multiple districts across Bihar.
Authority Given to District Magistrates
The Education Department has also authorised District Magistrates (DMs) to make local adjustments if extreme heat or adverse weather conditions persist in any district.
DMs have been empowered to modify school timings or declare holidays based on local requirements to ensure student safety.
Implementation from July 1
The new schedule will be implemented across all government-run schools in Bihar from the beginning of the new academic cycle month, with immediate effect from July 1.
