Patna: More than 150,000 female graduates in Bihar are set to receive a one-time incentive of Rs 50,000 each under the state government’s Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, as authorities move to verify eligibility data across universities.
The Department of Higher Education has directed 17 state universities to upload details of women who completed undergraduate examinations up to December 2025 on a designated online portal. The deadline for submission has been set as May 15, and officials have described compliance as mandatory.
The incentive falls under the scheme’s graduate component, which provides financial support to women who have successfully completed undergraduate degrees. The directive has been issued by the director of higher education, Prof. N.K. Agarwal, to registrars and examination controllers, instructing them to ensure that no eligible graduate is left out of the database.
Universities have also been asked to update previously missing records and include details of government-recognised courses, in an effort to standardise and complete the data set used for disbursing the payments.
The order applies to 17 institutions, including B.N. Mandal University, B.R.A. Bihar University, Jai Prakash University, Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Munger University, Patliputra University, Patna University, Purnea University, Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, Veer Kunwar Singh University, Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University, Magadh University, Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University, Nalanda Open University, Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Chanakya National Law University and the Chandragupt Institute of Management.
