Patna: Haj pilgrims from Bihar will now benefit from same-day medical examinations and reports, following a new initiative by the state’s Minority Welfare Department. The move aims to reduce travel and waiting times for pilgrims, many of whom come from remote areas.
Bihar’s Minority Welfare Department secretary, Mohammad Sohel, has instructed officials to ensure that medical checks and report issuance are completed within a single day. Special medical camps will be held at district hospitals across the state from February 10 to 15.
“This initiative is meant to ease the process for Haj pilgrims and ensure that they do not have to make repeated visits to hospitals,” Sohel said.
A total of 2,569 pilgrims from Bihar are expected to undertake the Haj pilgrimage this year, which will take place from April 18 to May 5.
In addition to the Haj preparations, Sohel urged eligible candidates from the minority community to take part in the state’s coaching scheme. Officials have been instructed to conduct the entrance examination, scheduled for February 8, in a fair and transparent manner and to ensure that all logistical arrangements at the exam centres are in place.
