Patna: The Bihar government has taken an important step to give a new direction to the state’s urban development. In the very first cabinet meeting of the new government, approval was given for the construction of satellite townships and greenfield townships in 11 major locations. This project is being described as a major move to make living in Bihar more comfortable and modern in the coming years.
These new townships will be built outside the existing congested cities and will offer planned and organised residential areas. According to government officials, people will get better housing, wide roads, parks, hospitals, clean drinking water, uninterrupted electricity, markets, office spaces, and a modern transportation system. The idea behind the project is to reduce population pressure on crowded cities and provide a cleaner and safer living space with improved facilities.
The townships will be developed in nine divisional headquarters along with Sonpur and Sitamarhi (Sitapuram). All these regions will be developed with a focus on better employment opportunities, new commercial spaces, and an environment suitable for business investment. Authorities believe that once the townships become functional, new companies and industries will start operations in these areas, creating thousands of jobs for the people of Bihar.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has said that this decision will speed up the development of Bihar. According to him, the state will now grow with new technology and a modern mindset, instead of the old outdated approaches. He added that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi want Bihar to develop at par with other major and advanced states in India. He expressed confidence that as the townships are completed, citizens will enjoy all the basic services easily — including smooth roads, reliable electricity, clean water, and improved daily life amenities.
The proposal has brought a sense of hope among people who have long demanded better living conditions and modern infrastructure. If the government successfully completes the project within planned timelines, these high-tech townships may become a turning point in Bihar’s urban transformation.
