Patna: The Bihar government has announced a new initiative to provide medical care at home for senior citizens, allowing elderly residents to access essential health services without travelling to hospitals or clinics.
Chief minister Nitish Kumar said the move was part of the state’s “Ease of Living” objective under Seven Resolves Part-3, a broader governance framework aimed at improving quality of life for vulnerable sections of society. The announcement was made through a social media post on Saturday morning.
Under the scheme, senior citizens will be able to receive services such as home-based pathology tests, blood pressure monitoring and ECG examinations. Nursing assistance and physiotherapy will also be provided at home, while doctors will attend patients during medical emergencies when required.

The chief minister said the initiative was designed to ensure that needy elderly people could access timely healthcare with dignity and minimal hardship. “Since assuming office in November 2005, our government has worked continuously for the upliftment of every section of society,” Nitish said, adding that the focus remained on enabling people to live with ease and self-respect.
Alongside the healthcare announcement, the government has invited public suggestions to further strengthen the Seven Resolves programme. A QR code has been released to allow citizens to submit ideas and feedback directly to the administration on how additional facilities could be implemented.
Officials said the home healthcare initiative would be rolled out in phases, with priority given to senior citizens who are physically frail, chronically ill or otherwise unable to regularly visit medical facilities.
