Patna: A first of its kind, three-day national horticulture conclave “Bihar Nursery and Green-Tech Conclave 2026” was inaugurated on Saturday at Gyan Bhavan in the state capital.
The conclave, which is being organised by Agriculture Department’s Horticulture Directorate, will be a technology-enabled event centred on the theme “Parampara Se Pragati Tak” (from tradition to progress). It is being organised to empower the horticulture sector with modern technology.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar said that farmers in Bihar have now become more prosperous and their incomes have been increasing steadily.
Farmers can improve their economic condition by engaging in animal husbandry and horticulture alongside traditional farming, he said and added that such events will promote the development of horticulture sector in the state and help increase farmers’ income. There are immense opportunities in horticulture for both farmers and youth, he added.

Kumar further said that agricultural products from Bihar are now gaining recognition at national and international levels. With the growth of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry and fisheries, people in the state are now finding employment opportunities within their own villages.
State’s Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav said that Bihar is progressing rapidly in the field of nursery development and green technology. The use of machines and modern technology in agriculture has increased significantly, he said.
Farmers are now earning good income from horticulture and getting better employment opportunities within their villages, Yadav said and added that innovation in agriculture and horticulture is on the rise. Today, there are many new employment opportunities emerging in farming and horticulture, and both farmers and youth should take advantage of them, the minister said.

Bihar State Farmers Commission Chairman Rupnarayan Mehta said that Bihar is an agrarian state where traditional farming has been practiced but in today’s era, agriculture and horticulture are rapidly developing with the help of technology.
Agriculture Department’s Principal Secretary Narmdeshwar Lal said that this is the first time such an event is being organized in Bihar and efforts are being made to establish coordination between agriculture, horticulture and technology through this programme. It will help connect farmers with modern techniques in horticulture, Lal added.

State’s former Chief Secretary and Bihar Museum Director General Anjani Kumar Singh said that he has been associated with the nursery sector and noted that significant progress has been made in the field of horticulture. Farmers in Bihar will get an opportunity to familiarize themselves with modern horticultural technologies through the three-day “Nursery and Green-Tech Conclave”.
Horticulture Director Abhishek Kumar said that leading nursery operators, growers, scientists from agricultural universities, experts from horticulture colleges as well as farmers and entrepreneurs from Bihar have come together on one platform at this conclave to exchange innovations and experiences in the field of horticulture.
