Patna: The Bihar government has issued a second list of transfers and postings for IAS officers, reassigning several senior bureaucrats across major state departments in what appears to be a wider reshuffle of the administrative machinery.
The latest changes follow an earlier list that appointed new district magistrates in 13 districts. The new notification, released by the General Administration Department on Monday, shifts principal secretaries, secretaries and senior officials holding additional charges.
K Senthil Kumar, principal secretary of the planning and development department, has been given additional charge as managing director of the Bihar State Scheduled Caste Cooperative Development Corporation. Pankaj Kumar Pal, secretary of the public health engineering department, will also take on the additional responsibility of secretary in the road construction department.
Abhay Kumar Singh, who has been serving as secretary of the urban development department, has been moved to head the food and consumer protection department. He will continue to hold additional charge as secretary of the information technology department and director of Beltron until further notice.
Divesh Sehra, secretary of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Department, has been appointed secretary of the Rural Works Department. He will retain additional responsibilities as inquiry commissioner under the general administration department, mines commissioner, and managing director of the mineral development corporation.
Saravanan M has been relieved of his role as secretary of the Rural Works Department and directed to report to the general administration department. Sandeep Kumar, secretary of the Road Construction Department, and Puthukulathar A have been transferred to the Urban Development Department, where they will continue to hold additional charge as managing director of Metro.
The reshuffle indicates the government’s ongoing effort to strengthen administrative oversight in departments linked to infrastructure, welfare and service delivery.
