Patna: The Bihar government has transferred five Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including several district police chiefs, in a reshuffle announced on Sunday, ahead of the expected declaration of assembly election dates.
According to a notification from the Home Department’s police branch, Manish Kumar, a 2017-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the new superintendent of police (SP) in Arwal. He replaces Dr Enamul Haq Menganu, who has been moved to the post of railway SP in Patna.

Pushkar Anand, a 2009-batch officer who was serving as SP (B), Special Branch, Patna, has been posted as commander of Bihar Police Service Battalion-9 in Jamalpur. Aditya Kumar (2011 batch), previously awaiting posting at police headquarters, has been named SP of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force under the Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau in Patna.
Meanwhile, Amrtendu Shekhar Thakur, a 2017-batch officer who was railway SP in Patna, has been transferred to the Central Selection Board (Constable Recruitment) as SP.
The reshuffle comes at a politically sensitive time, with election schedules for Bihar likely to be announced shortly. Officials said the transfers will remain in effect until further orders.
