Patna: Today, Janmashtami is being celebrated across Bihar with great fervour as temples host elaborate events. This year, the festival coincides with a rare combination of six auspicious yogas—Vriddhi Yoga, Dhruva Yoga, Shrivatsa, Gaj Lakshmi, Dhwanksh, and Buddhaditya—believed to bring wealth, happiness, love, and prosperity.
Patna’s ISKCON temple is at the centre of the celebrations, decorated with 80 quintals of flowers sourced from Thailand, Kolkata, Bangalore, and Bangkok, in a ‘Vrindavan’ theme. The deity will be anointed with 251 silver urns and conches, while devotees will be offered a mahabhog of 501 dishes. The temple opens at 7 am and will remain accessible until 1 am, with bhajan-kirtan troupes coming from Mayapuri and Vrindavan.
To ensure comfort during the rainy season, waterproof pandals have been installed, and multiple priests have been deployed to manage the flow of prasadam distribution efficiently.
Meanwhile, Mahavir temple in Patna will also host special Janmashtami events, beginning with bhajan-kirtan at 9 pm and concluding with midnight worship. About 4,000 kilos of naivedyam have been prepared, and flowers have been specially sourced from Kolkata.
The festivities reflect the cultural and spiritual significance of Janmashtami in Bihar, drawing devotees from across the state to participate in the rituals.
