Patna: Women enrolled in Bihar’s flagship employment scheme are set to receive the next round of financial assistance in May, as officials confirm that administrative processes for the second instalment have been completed.
Under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, aimed at promoting self-employment among women, beneficiaries will receive Rs 20,000 directly into their bank accounts. The payment follows an earlier disbursement of Rs 10,000 provided during the scheme’s initial phase.
Officials from the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society, known as Jeevika, said a survey of more than 4 million women had been carried out to identify and verify eligible recipients for the second instalment. April 25 had been set as the deadline for beneficiaries to submit details of their employment activities, marking the final step before funds are released.
Authorities said the disbursement will be made to women who have complied with documentation requirements, including submission of utilisation certificates for the first instalment, maintenance of financial records, and adherence to their proposed business plans. Applications were collected by April 20 and subsequently reviewed by loan committees for approval.
The scheme requires a segment of beneficiaries to contribute their own capital and begin income-generating activities as part of the eligibility criteria for continued financial support.
The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana provides a total assistance package of Rs 2,10,000 per beneficiary, distributed in five stages. After the initial Rs 10,000 and the upcoming Rs 20,000 payment, subsequent instalments of Rs 40,000, Rs 80,000 and Rs 60,000 will be released. The final tranche is earmarked for branding, packaging and marketing support.
Officials said the programme is designed to strengthen women’s economic participation by enabling small-scale entrepreneurial ventures across the state.
