Patna: Bihar’s Panchayati Raj minister Deepak Prakash has fallen ill with typhoid just days after taking charge of his new role. Doctors have advised him to take complete bed rest and continue his medication. The minister shared an update about his health through a Facebook post, in which he also uploaded two photos of himself resting on a bed. His sudden illness has worried his supporters and colleagues who have wished him a speedy recovery.
In his Facebook post, Deepak Prakash wrote that he had been suffering from typhoid for the past week. He explained that because of his new responsibilities, he had not been able to give his body enough rest. This has caused weakness and slowed down his recovery. Despite being unwell, the minister said that he would continue completing government work for the next two to three days. However, he added that he would be meeting visitors and talking on the phone less than usual.
Deepak Prakash assumed office as Panchayati Raj minister only a few days ago. On the first day in his department, he said that the government would identify and develop the assets of District Councils. According to him, this step will help increase the internal income of the department and also create new employment opportunities for young people at the local level. His plans include forming a committee at the village panchayat level to oversee development schemes, and this committee will involve members from political parties to ensure transparency.
He also promised to complete the appointment process for all vacant posts as soon as possible. Deepak Prakash said that the trust placed in him by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be fulfilled with sincerity and responsibility. He appealed to everyone for cooperation in carrying out the work of the Panchayati Raj department. Although his health has become a concern, Prakash has shown determination to continue working for now, even as well-wishers hope he takes the necessary rest to recover quickly.
