Patna: Bihar Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Minister Sanjay Singh has rejected allegations of an altercation involving him and female staff at a hotel in Delhi, describing the claims as “completely baseless”.
The alleged incident has triggered political controversy, with allegations that Singh behaved inappropriately with a female hotel employee and that an altercation subsequently took place involving other hotel staff.
Singh has denied the allegations and described the controversy as a deliberate conspiracy to defame the Bihar government and the state.
Minister challenges accusers to provide evidence
Responding to the allegations, Singh maintained that no minister from Bihar was involved in any such misconduct.
He alleged that attempts were being made to tarnish Bihar’s image because the state government was performing well. Singh challenged those making the allegations to provide evidence and said he would retire from politics if any of the allegations were proved true.
Tej Pratap Yadav levels allegations
The controversy escalated after Tej Pratap Yadav, leader of the Janshakti Janata Dal, levelled allegations against Singh.
In a post on X, Tej Pratap alleged that Mahua MLA and minister Sanjay Singh had behaved inappropriately towards a young woman at a Delhi hotel and that the matter was subsequently suppressed through a payment of approximately Rs 25 lakh.

Tej Pratap called for an impartial investigation into the allegations, saying the public had a right to know what had happened.
He also said that if anyone was found guilty following an investigation, action should be taken in accordance with the law.
Minister rejects allegations
Singh has maintained that the allegations are false and politically motivated. He said the controversy was part of an effort to damage the reputation of Bihar and its government.
