Patna: The Bihar Museum and the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS) have signed a five-year agreement aimed at expanding collaboration in museum development, cultural preservation and public engagement.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on Tuesday, seeks to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions through joint exhibitions, research, educational programmes and the preservation of India’s folk and tribal heritage.
The agreement was signed by Prof Amitabh Pandey, Director of IGRMS, Bhopal, and Anjani Kumar Singh, Director General of the Bihar Museum.
Focus On Exhibitions, Research And Cultural Preservation
Under the agreement, the two museums will collaborate on joint exhibitions, the exchange of museum artefacts and exhibition resources, and the preservation, documentation and research of folk and tribal art and culture.
The partnership also includes cooperation in museum-based education, professional training, workshops, seminars and academic publications.
Officials said the collaboration is intended to encourage greater sharing of knowledge, expertise and institutional resources between the two museums.
Digital Innovation To Play A Key Role
The MoU also outlines plans to develop digital archives, visual exhibitions, digital catalogues and augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR)-based museum experiences.
Both institutions will work together to promote traditional crafts, cultural innovation and community-based programmes, while expanding educational activities, internships and training opportunities for students of museology.
Public Outreach And Heritage Awareness
The Bihar Museum and IGRMS will jointly organise research projects, lectures, discussions, cultural events and public outreach programmes aimed at increasing awareness of India’s cultural heritage.
Anjani Kumar Singh said the partnership would provide fresh momentum to the exchange of knowledge, experience and resources among museums in India, while helping strengthen efforts to preserve and promote the country’s diverse cultural traditions.
