Patna: Bihar is set to receive another boost in rail connectivity with the launch of a Vande Bharat Express connecting Jamalpur in Munger district to Howrah in West Bengal. The train will be inaugurated tomorrow, by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Union Minister and Munger Lalan Singh.
The Malda Division of Eastern Railway, led by Divisional Railway Manager Manish Kumar Gupta, confirmed that the Bhagalpur–Howrah Vande Bharat Express has now been extended to Jamalpur. The service is scheduled to run six days a week, excluding Fridays, with regular operations commencing on August 17.
The new route is expected to cut travel time significantly. The journey from Jamalpur to Howrah, which currently takes around nine to ten hours on services such as the Kaviguru Express, will now be completed in just six and a half hours.
Fares for the service have been set at Rs 1,290 for AC chair cars and Rs 2,335 for executive class. Officials said the train will offer passengers from Jamalpur, Munger, and surrounding areas a faster, more comfortable, and modern travel option.
