Patna: The new year of 2026 is bringing hopeful news for the youth of Bihar. The state government has announced a large employment plan that aims to create around three lakh government jobs and nearly ten lakh employment opportunities in different sectors. This step is being seen as an important effort to reduce unemployment and provide stable income to young people within the state, so that they do not have to migrate to other regions in search of work.
A key part of this plan is the Chief Minister’s Pledge Scheme, under which 25,000 young people will be given internships in reputed companies. According to officials, 5,000 youths will get internships by March, while another 20,000 will be selected from April in the new financial year. More than 50 well-known companies from Bihar and other states have shown interest in the scheme. These companies will choose interns based on their requirements, while the state government will support the interns by paying them a monthly stipend of Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 during the training period.
At the same time, the government is speeding up recruitment for regular jobs. Recommendations for new appointments will be sent to recruiting agencies and commissions in the coming months. Earlier, recommendations to fill about 1.5 lakh vacant posts have already been sent, and preparations are under way to invite applications and conduct preliminary examinations. Under the Seven Resolves–2 programme, the government says that between 2020 and 2025, around 50 lakh young people in Bihar received jobs or employment opportunities, and the new year’s plan aims to take this number even higher.
A large number of new jobs will be created in the police and related services. In 2026, recruitment for more than 30,000 posts is expected to be completed. This includes over 24,000 police constables, along with driver constables, sub-inspectors, wardens, excise constables and forest officers. The recruitment process for many of these posts is already under way in different stages, giving hope to thousands of candidates preparing for competitive exams.
Apart from government jobs, Bihar is also focusing on industrial growth to create employment. It is estimated that nearly ten lakh people may get work in the industrial sector in the new year, with more than one lakh direct jobs likely to be created. The food processing sector is expected to help develop about 11,000 new entrepreneurs, which will further increase job opportunities. Currently, industries in Bihar provide jobs to around 50,000 people every year, but this number is rising fast. Looking ahead, the government has set a target to provide jobs and employment to one crore young people over the next five years, making employment generation a top priority for the state.
