Nalanda: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar visited his ancestral village of Kalyan Bigha in Nalanda district on Wednesday to pay tribute to his mother, Parmeshwari Devi, on her death anniversary, blending a deeply personal moment with a wider public presence.
At Kaviraj Ramlakhan Singh Smriti Vatika, the chief minister offered floral tributes to the statue of his mother and observed a moment of remembrance. He also paid homage at the memorials of his father, Kaviraj Ramlakhan Singh, and his late wife, Manju Sinha. Members of his family, including his elder brother Satish Kumar and son Nishant Kumar, joined him in the tributes.
The visit drew a large gathering of ministers, legislators, senior officials and political colleagues from across the state. Among those present were Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar, Nalanda MP Kaushalendra Kumar, several MLAs and MLCs, senior party leaders of the Janata Dal (United), and top district and police officials from Patna and Nalanda.

During his stay in the village, the chief minister also visited the Bhagwati temple, where he offered prayers for peace, prosperity and well-being across Bihar. Locals lined the route and gathered at the venue to greet him, many taking the opportunity to raise civic concerns and personal grievances.
Officials said the chief minister interacted informally with residents, listened to their problems and issued on-the-spot instructions to district officials for follow-up action. In a quieter moment, he was also seen feeding fish in the village pond, a gesture that has become a familiar part of his visits to Kalyan Bigha.
