Patna: Members of the Bihar State Nursery Union staged a protest outside the Janata Dal (United) office in Patna on Monday, demanding a direct meeting with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over unresolved grievances.
The employees, who have been working since 2012, raised concerns about the government’s 2024 restoration examination, whose results have largely not been released. According to the protesters, only 10 to 20 candidates have been declared successful, leaving the majority in uncertainty.
Union representatives also criticised the state government and JD(U) leadership for failing to provide permanent employment or regular salaries, despite years of continuous service. “We have received repeated assurances, but no solution has been found,” said a spokesperson for the union, explaining their desire to meet the chief minister directly.
This protest follows a similar demonstration last Tuesday, which escalated into clashes with police. Officers resorted to a lathicharge after pushing and shoving broke out between protesters and law enforcement, temporarily dispersing the crowd.
The union has indicated that their demands remain urgent and unresolved, signalling the potential for further demonstrations if the government does not respond.
