Patna: The Bihar Police has started working on a large-scale plan to improve its wireless and mobile communication systems before the state assembly elections. The police department’s communication wing has been asked to remove all network blackspots, also known as shadow zones, to make sure officers can stay connected during polling and emergency situations.
Police stations across the state have been directed to identify and report areas with poor or no mobile coverage. Once these shadow zones are located, the department will either improve its own wireless system or work with telecom companies to set up new mobile towers. Officials said this step is important to make sure that law and order duties run smoothly during the elections.
Additional Director General (Communication and Technical Services) NK Azad explained that reliable communication is vital for security and quick response. “By identifying shadow zones and boosting wireless and mobile services, we can ensure there are no hurdles in election work,” he said. “It will also help provide rescue and relief in case of any emergency.”
A high-level meeting has already taken place between police officials and telecom companies. Mobile operators have been asked to study weak network areas on their own and take action before polling begins. They have also been directed to set up towers where needed to strengthen connectivity on a large scale.
The police believe that once these measures are in place, officers will be able to coordinate better, respond faster, and handle any situation during the assembly elections without delay. This preparation is expected to not only help in conducting peaceful polls but also improve everyday communication and safety across Bihar.
