Patna: Women’s help desk in 855 police stations has been tasked with the responsibility of resolving the grievances of senior citizens and transgenders in the state, Additional Director General of Police (ADG) (Weaker Section) Amit Kumar Jain said.

Preventive action taken against 405 youths & 11 arrested for indulging in eve-teasing —
Police have taken preventive action against 405 eve-teasers besides lodging 11 FIRs in this regard between January to March 2026 following the formation of “Abhaya Brigade” in December last year (2026) across the state for the safety and security of girls going to schools, colleges and coaching institutes, Jain said.
He said that 1500 scooty will be purchased for Abhaya brigade for which the state cabinet has already given its sanction.
The investigation of cases relating to SC and ST has been expedited following which the number of cases has declined, he said adding that a total of 5010 SC and ST cases were pending for investigation at the end of 2025 but the number reduced by 140 to 4870 cases by the end of February 2026.
“NAYA SAVERA 2.0” DRIVE ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING
A month long special drive “Naya Savera 2.0” was launched between April 01 to April 30, 2026 to deal with the various aspects of human trafficking, ADG said.
During the drive, a case of bonded labour was registered and 94 victims including 20 minor girls and 26 minor boys were released and two human traffickers were arrested, he said adding that 61 cases of child labour were lodged in which 190 boys and three girls were released.
A total of 140 victims including 92 minor girls and one minor boy were released in 20 cases relating to sexual crime and orchestra and dance group and 114 human traffickers including 35 women were arrested in these cases, he said.
A total of 427 victims including 115 minor girls and 217 minor boys were released and 116 human traffickers including 35 women were arrested in altogether 82 cases lodged under the drive “Naya Savera 2.0”
99,158 ACCUSED PERSONS ARRESTED IN FIRST THREE MONTHS OF 2026
Talking about the arrests of accused persons in the first three months of the 2026, ADG (Headquarters) Sunil Kumar said that a total of 99,158 persons have been arrested in the first three months of January 32,872 arrests), February (32,675 arrests) and March 33,611 arrests).
Similarly, a total of 3483 hardcore criminals have been arrested till March 2026, he said adding that 1113 persons were arrested in January, 1191 in February and 1179 in March 2026.
A total of 27 naxalites have been arrested in the first three months of the current year, ADG said while highlighting the fact that the impact of Naxalites has been negligible in the state. Nine naxalites arrested in January, five in February and 13 in March, he added. Two naxalites- one each from Nawada and Munger- have been arrested on Many 3, 2026, he said adding that these two naxalites have been absconding for several years.
Eight persons have been arrested till March 2026 in connection with cases of kidnapping for ransom, Kumar said while asserting that the incidents of kidnapping for ransom has almost been curbed in the state. If any such incident of kidnapping for ransom takes place anywhere in the state, the police solved the case immediately by arresting the accused persons.
A total of 1086 illegal firearms have been recovered in the first three months of the year, he said adding that 13 “regular weapons” have been recovered till March 2026. Besides, 5625 cartridges have been recovered till March.
Police have busted 24 illegal mini gun factories till March this year, ADG said and added that 11,37,213 litres of illegal liquor have been seized during the same period.
