Patna: The political controversy over the alleged use of abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the INDIA bloc’s ongoing Vote Adhikar Yatra in Bihar has escalated, with a case now registered against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Patna.
BJP leaders lodged an FIR at Kotwali police station on Thursday, claiming that derogatory words directed at Modi were raised from Gandhi’s stage during the yatra. The complaint was filed by a five-member delegation that included state party spokesperson Prem Ranjan Patel, vice-president Anamika Paswan, media in-charge Danish Iqbal and co-in-charge Prabhat Malakar. Police have confirmed that the complaint has been accepted and an investigation is under way.

“Rahul Gandhi is making people abuse the Prime Minister from the stage, which is not only unconstitutional but also against the dignity of the post of Prime Minister,” said BJP spokesperson Prem Ranjan Patel. He added that Modi had worked continuously for Bihar’s development — citing roads, electricity and the Har Ghar Nal Yojana — and that such actions by Gandhi’s supporters “cannot be tolerated.”
BJP leaders have urged police to swiftly identify those responsible for using the alleged slurs during a yatra rally in Darbhanga and to make arrests. “We hope the police will definitely take action against those who abused the Prime Minister from an open platform,” said Danish Iqbal, the BJP’s media in-charge.
