Patna: The Union Budget has brought good news for Bihar by announcing a large investment of Rs 10,379 crore for railway development in the state. This money will be used to improve rail services and build new infrastructure. One of the biggest highlights is the decision to fast-track the Varanasi–Siliguri high-speed rail corridor, which will directly connect Patna to a future bullet train network. This project is expected to change the way people travel across the state and improve links with major cities.
The high-speed corridor will run through important parts of northern and eastern India, making Patna a key stop on this modern route. Once the project is completed, travel time between cities will be much shorter. Business people, students, tourists and workers will all benefit from faster and more comfortable journeys. Though bullet trains may take time to start running, the planning and construction of the corridor mark a big step toward modern transport in Bihar.
Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that railway projects worth around Rs 1,09,158 crore are already in progress across Bihar. These include building new railway lines, doubling tracks on busy routes, electrifying existing lines, and upgrading stations with better facilities. Many old stations will be modernised to provide cleaner platforms, better waiting areas, and improved safety for passengers.
These developments are expected to create jobs and bring new economic opportunities to the state. Better railway connectivity will help farmers, traders and small businesses send their goods to other parts of the country more easily. For daily passengers, it will mean less crowding and shorter travel times. With this new investment, Bihar is moving toward a stronger and faster future, where travel is easier and growth reaches every corner of the state.
