Patna: The Bihar government has initiated disciplinary and punitive action against 10 more officials of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department over allegations of negligence, irregularities, corruption and dereliction of duty.
The latest action, approved by Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, brings the total number of officials against whom action has been taken to 42.
Dismissal Recommended for Settlement Officer
The department has recommended the dismissal of Anjali Kumari Anand, who was serving as In-charge Assistant Settlement Officer in Samastipur.
According to departmental records, she has remained absent from duty without permission since July 2021. The department also alleged that she failed to cooperate with departmental inquiries and related proceedings, prompting the recommendation for her removal from service.
Disciplinary Measures Against Other Officials
Action has also been taken against several serving and former revenue officials across the state.
Those facing disciplinary measures include Kumari Anchal, Circle Officer of Chhapra Sadar; Avinash Kumar, former Circle Officer of Bodh Gaya; Ravindra Kumar Chaupal, Circle Officer of Asthawan; Rakesh Kumar, Additional District Land Acquisition Officer in West Champaran; Gyanindra, former Circle Officer of Mokama; Kaushika Kumari, Circle Officer of Madhepur; Narayan Raja, Circle Officer of Hathua; Ram Kumar Suman, Revenue Officer of Gaya Sadar; and Sanjeev Kumar, Assistant Settlement Officer of Gayaji.
According to the department’s order, formal censures have been issued to Kumari Anchal, Ravindra Kumar Chaupal and Rakesh Kumar.
One annual appraisal report of former Circle Officer Avinash Kumar has been withheld, while Kaushika Kumari has received an official warning.
Charge sheets have been issued against Gyanindra, Narayan Raja and Sanjeev Kumar. The department has also decided to initiate formal departmental proceedings against Ram Kumar Suman.
Government Signals Zero Tolerance
Speaking on the action, Dilip Kumar Jaiswal said corruption, negligence, irregularities and misconduct would not be tolerated in the department under any circumstances.
He said strict action would continue against officials found responsible for lapses affecting public services and administrative functioning.
Previous Actions and Ongoing Review
The Revenue and Land Reforms Department stated that action had already been taken against 32 Circle Officers and Revenue Officers in recent months.
In a separate case, Revenue Officer Soni Kumari was recently dismissed from service. With the latest measures, the number of officials facing disciplinary action has risen to 42.
The department indicated that reviews of pending cases would continue and that further action could follow if additional officials are found guilty of misconduct.
Monitoring of Land and Revenue Services
Officials said the department is maintaining regular oversight of key functions, including mutation (dakhil-kharij), jamabandi records, protection of government land, land ceiling matters, land record management and compliance with the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
The department stated that investigations and periodic reviews are being conducted to identify irregularities, negligence and violations of established procedures, with disciplinary action being taken wherever necessary.
